Most UK businesses have not done enough to prepare for the introduction of the compulsory electronic filing requirements that will be introduced by HMRC next year.
Business advisory firm Deloitte found that 44 percent of companies had done no planning and 49 percent had only just started to assess their options.
All UK corporate tax filings from 31 March 2011 must be filed electronically, a move which is likely to significantly affect the tax and finance functions of many businesses.
According to the survey 22 percent of companies are considering outsourcing the e-filing of their accounts in the short-term while they assess their options for the future.
