European businesses need more convincing before they fully embrace cloud computing according to a study by IT management firm CA.
Cloud computing involves delivering IT services across the internet, rather than having them based on local computers and servers.
While only a minority believed that cloud computing was just a passing fad, more than 70 per cent of businesses questioned were worried about management and security issues.
The study also discovered that many businesses didn't recognise how the technical advantages of cloud computing could be turned into business benefits, such as cost savings and increased availability.
It concluded that it was up to the IT industry to make the case for cloud computing and to help businesses transition smoothly to the new IT environment.
