Plans for a 'broadband tax' will be unfair on small businesses, according to the Conservatives.
As part of the Digital Britain report published last year, the government's planning to charge 50 pence per month on all fixed telephone lines in the country, adding up to £6 a year.
It's to try and raise £1 billion to invest in high-speed broadband, which will ultimately be good for businesses and customers alike.
But Jeremy Hunt, the Shadow Culture Secretary, told the Times Online, "I can't believe the Government's pressing ahead with such a damaging and misguided tax.
"The fact that SMEs will be forced to pay up to £1,500 each is staggering."
